Mercury Computer Announces 1996 Michael Schneider Award for Excellence

Quality Software Management founder 's efforts vital to success of projects

July 29, 1996 - Quality Software Management is pleased to announce that Mercury Computer has awarded the Michael Schneider Award for Excellence to Alan Lehotsky for his development efforts on both their SHARC DSP product and on their PowerPC based heterogeneous multi-processor systems.

The Schneider Award recognizes efforts above and beyond normal responsibilities and duties, and normally is given to outstanding employees of Mercury Computer, who have distinguished themselves by their performance in meeting customer needs.

Alan Lehotsky, founder of Quality Software Management, was responsible for modifications to the C compiler for the SHARC DSP chip. These modifications were crucial to Mercury's heterogeneous high-performance multiprocessor computer strategy. Other compiler enhancements provided code-optimization, increased floating-point accuracy and runtime performance, as well as improvements to compile-time error detection. The stability and reliability of the compiler was valuable in meeting project milestones and in giving Mercury's customers confidence in the quality of Mercury's SHARC-based products.
